Frequently Asked Questions

Let's Answer Some

  • At Awkward Recovery, we recognize that each individual's path to healing is distinct. While our standard treatment model spans 8 weeks, we understand that personal needs and circumstances can vary. That's why we don't enforce rigid timeframes. Instead, each client receives a customized treatment plan, meticulously crafted to address their unique challenges, goals, and stage in their recovery journey.

We've observed that sustained engagement in recovery significantly enhances the likelihood of successfully overcoming addiction and achieving lasting sobriety. Our multi-tiered treatment structure allows clients to participate in recovery for the duration most beneficial to them, ensuring that the level and length of treatment align perfectly with their individual needs.

Beyond the initial treatment phase, Awkward Recovery is dedicated to offering continuous support. We encourage individual counseling sessions with our masters level recovery counselors extends past the IOP phase of an individuals journey. Our community events and resources, rooted in the vibrant heart of our location, provide ongoing encouragement and connection, reinforcing the foundations of a successful and enduring recovery journey.

  • At Awkward Recovery, we embrace a comprehensive approach to healing. Our programming is supportive of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as part of the recovery process. We understand the value it brings to many individuals on their journey.

However, it's important to note that while our clinical treatment programs integrate MAT compatibility, our sober living facilities currently do not. This distinction ensures that each aspect of our service is tailored to meet the diverse needs and stages of recovery that our clients may be in.

  • Absolutely, continuing your sessions with your counselor post-IOP treatment is not only possible, but it's highly recommended. Transitioning from the structured environment of IOP to everyday life can be a significant adjustment and may introduce challenges along your recovery journey.

To ease this transition and maintain the momentum you've built, we advocate for a gradual step-down approach. This typically involves moving into weekly individual sessions after concluding your IOP treatment, providing you with continued support and guidance. From there, we can collaboratively assess and determine the most suitable path forward, ensuring your recovery remains on a steady, positive trajectory.

  • Absolutely. At Awkward Recovery, we recognize the intricate link between mental health and substance abuse and provide comprehensive care for individuals facing primary mental health challenges. We're focused on providing a space conducive to healing and recovery for all clients and appreciate your understanding in this matter.

  • At Awkward Recovery, we recognize the unique dynamics and challenges that couples may face on their journey to recovery. We do offer treatment for couples, but it's important to note that this is determined on a case-by-case basis. Our team carefully assesses each situation to ensure that our program can meet the specific needs of both individuals while supporting the overall goals of recovery for each person. This individualized approach allows us to provide the most effective and supportive environment for every client.

  • our focus is on fostering a clean, safe, and supportive environment conducive to recovery and healing for all our clients. As part of this commitment, we maintain a strict no-drug policy, which includes the use of marijuana. We understand that recovery is a comprehensive process, and our policy is in place to support the overall well-being and success of each individual in our care.

  • At Awkward Recovery, we value the unique insights and experiences that individuals in recovery can bring to our team. However, to maintain the integrity of our treatment environment and ensure the well-being of all clients, we have a policy in place regarding the employment of former clients. You would be eligible to apply for a position with us after at least two years have passed since completing your treatment at our facility, and you have maintained a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety. This policy is designed to ensure that both our team members and clients have the stability and support they need to thrive.

  • Absolutely! At Awkward Recovery, we wholeheartedly believe in the integral role that family and loved ones play in the recovery journey. We recognize that addiction doesn't only impact the individual in treatment—it touches the entire family. Because of this we offer dedicated sessions designed to involve family members and loved ones in the recovery process. Our goal is to facilitate healing, understanding, and growth for everyone involved, ensuring that the whole family unit moves forward with strengthened, healthy relationships.

  • Exciting news is on the horizon! • we understand the importance of staying connected to your personal and professional life during treatment. That's why we allow the use of phones and laptops during clinical programming hours, ensuring you have access to the tools you need for communication and work. We kindly ask that those devices stay muted or off while in group session.

However, to maintain a focused and supportive living environment, we do not permit the use of these devices within our housing facilities. This policy is designed to encourage engagement, interaction, and the full benefit of our recovery community during your residential stay.

  • At Awkward Recovery, we place a strong emphasis on equipping our clients with essential life skills and offering ongoing therapeutic support as they transition back into their daily routines.

Life Skills Training: Our comprehensive life skills program is designed to prepare our clients for the challenges of day-to-day living post-treatment. We focus on developing key competencies such as financial management, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills. These sessions are tailored to help individuals manage personal responsibilities, maintain healthy relationships, and navigate various social and professional situations confidently.

Continued Therapy and Support: We firmly believe that recovery is a continuous journey and that sustained support is crucial for long-term success. Even after completing our program, clients have the option to continue individual therapy sessions with their counselor. These sessions provide a safe space to discuss ongoing challenges, reinforce coping strategies, and ensure that the transition back into everyday life is as smooth and sustainable as possible. We also encourage participation in our support groups, where individuals can share experiences, offer mutual support, and remain connected to a community that understands and supports their journey to lasting recovery.

By focusing on these two critical areas, Awkward Recovery aims to not only assist our clients in achieving sobriety but also in acquiring the skills and support necessary to lead a fulfilling and balanced life.
